Marco Polo
We are very conservative with the number of rams we hunt per year in order to maintain strong trophy quality and ensure the conservation of our sheep populations. Our hunters enjoy the experience of seeing plentiful mature rams in pursuit of the ideal trophy.
Mid-Asian Ibex
Our ibex populations are very strong and in the same area as the sheep. Always a challenge, these billies provide a noticeably different experience than a Marco Polo; a perfect addition after a successful sheep hunt.
Bukharan Markhor
Located at lower elevation and in a completely different hunt area closer to Dushanbe, our markhor hunts are quite limited and offer a multitude of opportunities at this iconic species.
Our Lodge
Completed in late 2021, our new private lodge is built with modern amenities and the discerning hunter in mind. Heated floors, individual bedrooms, western bathrooms, a full kitchen, hot water shower and a sauna are just a few of the features our hunters enjoy at The River Lodge.
Hunt Area
This Wakhan(Vakhan) corridor is the historic trading route where the Venetian marchant Marco Polo first documented the sightings of a new species of ovis which now bears his name. Our lodge and hunt area are located on historic passageway through which sheep regularly migrate providing consistent opportunities to hunt different herds.

Truly a one of a kind Marco Polo experience
Our Marco Polo and Pamir Ibex offering in Tajikistan lies in a breathtaking and historically rich mountainous region often referred to as the Wakhan Corridor. Our 208,000 hectare concession is blessed with an abundance of sheep and ibex the regularly move about the local ridgelines as they feed on rolling hills of rocky and grass-filled pockets attracting large bands during the rut and bachelor herds at nearly all times of the year. Hunt difficulty is low to moderate depending on animal behavior driven by the season as well as snowfall.
Exceptional comfort in mountain hunting
The Vakhan lodge comfortably sleeps 8 guests but we only plan for 2 hunters at a time unless otherwise requested. We own our lodge and do not share our tags or accommodations with other outfitters. With heated floors, 3 full bathrooms, a fireplace, modern western bedding, a sauna and a full kitchen with our dedicated chef, the Vakhan lodge offers uncommon comfort for hunters in Tajikistan.
Bukharan Markhor
Along with our Marco Polo and Pamir Ibex hunts we offer Agfhan Urial , Bukharan Markhor and Matison Argali hunts within Tajikistan. Our urial and markhor areas yield exceptional trophy quality and offer some diversity in terrain from our Vakhan lodge. Situated at lower elevation and closer to Dushanbe, these hunts can often be completed in a matter of just a few days from arrival in Tajikistan.
